I have a child that is 16yrs old but has the mind of a 6 month old and she will always be that baby. I am a single mom and have to work because her SSI is so low, which means that my babysitters are my parents that are in their 70's because I do not qualify for a home nurse because I know more than they do and she is just not eligible for any of that. The other day I went to the SS Office to discuss my daughters options and ended up getting mad and telling them that at the rate it is going...

The other day I went to the SS Office to discuss my daughters options and ended up getting mad and telling them that at the rate it is going with her SSI and if they keep taking it away from her, I was going to end up having to pay them for her being handicapped. She will NEVER be able to walk or talk or even eat food with a g-tube, but let me make $1.00 over the limit and then they are interested in her "well-being"!

I know alot of "for real" Disabled people and Just because they are disabled doesn't mean they should live in Poverty.. Most worked Hard all their lives and deserve to be treated better.

I'm a veteran of the military that has serviced his country in a honorable way and now, many years afterwards I am facing the possibility not being able to walk myself in the near future. I'm all over this important cause and I hope many others are. Thanks

I agree those of us who are disabled doesn't mean we want to stop our lives and make our family suffort because we can't afford to live the life we thought we were going too. When it comes to being able to afford gas to go to a dr. or put food on the table. Something is totally wrong with this country.
