Carrie Bates, It said he had lots of meds for the dog so maybe it wasen't in pain Schoep just walked like that because he was old, like an old person with a can, he isn't in pain he just is old and doesn't walk as good. I thought the same thing though when I read the article and watched the video, but on the outher hand he did love the dog dearly and the Love they shared was wounderful. I work at a shelter and I see so many people that just don't care about their animals, they bring them in...

I work at a shelter and I see so many people that just don't care about their animals, they bring them in daily for all kinds of reasons that just don't make sence to me, and I just shake my head and wounder,"how can you just leave your dog hear just because it's old, has mange (that is treatable) it is blind, you have to move, it is hurt and (you say) you can't afford to take it to the vet. One women even turned her dog in cause she changed the decore in her home and the dog didn't match it right (true story) if you work or volenter at a shelter you might change your minde. He should be on the cover.

I agree about the shelter. We only get our animals from the shelter. I guess it is my experiences of my parents with their dogs. They would keep them a live even though they were in pain. Instead my dogs would take the pain away a bit. They just wouldn't let go. Schleop was an amazing dog! And, his owner as well!

I would much rather see someone who knows the meaning of unconditional love than a politician or celebrity....John and Schoep deserve to be on that cover

A story that should be shared of a dog and his love for his owner and vise versa, R.I.P Schoep. brought tears to my eyes reading his story of abuse before he met his new loving owner John

Why can peoplel not just shut up & not comment if they don't support this...don't pledge, don't sign the petition etc as nobody says you have to...skip over it! Someone started this out off the kindness of their heart & I'm sure they do not want to hear the ridiculous heartless comments from those that are writing them! Were you there with them, did you live with them, did you go visit them...NO, so how the hell do you know Schoep was in so much unbearable pain & even if he was, don't you...

Would you just Euthenize your mom or dad or your grandparents because they are elderly & maybe on pain Meds etc etc...I think not, so why should animals be any different?

no. i have had dogs - more than one - and when i realized they were in too much pain to enjoy the simple things in life (eating a meal, sleeping peacefully, walking easily), i had them euthanized. it's not "loving" and "supportive" to force a dog to die by degrees. it's a betrayal of the trust they have in us to do what is right by them.
