We need to think like Hawaiians of old, only fish what is needed to support the village, the island, not the world. They have their own seas in which to fish. We always had enough to feed our people. Greed is what is feeding the need to have more & more & now there is no more!

Aloha PETA, I am a long time supporter of PETA, the founder of Kai Palaoa (a Marine Protection Organization--www.kaipalaoa.com) and a Native Hawaiian. However, I believe PETA is misinformed on this issue. Peta might consider reviewing the Stanford University studies which looked to Hawaiian Ocean resources management as the model for global ocean and fishery recovery. However, I believe PETA is misinformed on this issue. Peta might consider reviewing the Stanford University studies which looked to Hawaiian Ocean resources management as the model for global ocean and fishery recovery. It is not the Traditional/Cultural Practices still practiced by Native Hawaiians today that have caused the fishery crisis nor are these practices depleting the fish stocks. It is Corporate Fishing practices such as long liners and other abusive and unsustainable practices that are raping the sea. Native Hawaiian fishing practices are proven to be sustainable. They sustained a large population for thousands of years. The fallacy of modernity and its unsustainable Corporate TAKING is what should be sanctioned not Native Hawaiians. Let us challenge them together--because in the Profit is not a RIGHT !!!!

Peta, you put your foot in your mouth on this one. Stay out of Hawaiian culture and pick on the stars wearing fur.

Born and raised in Hawaii, as a local boy, fishing, hunting, and living off the land is our heritage. As we all know we do not take more than we need, this is our lifestyle and the way we sustain food foe our families, Bugoff PETA.

Please go listen to my cousin Keanu Sai. Each and every law they impose on us Kanakamaoli is considered a war crime. This means that the official who punished you can be investigated by the bigger world courts. There is no such thing as the state of Hawaii

We have a system of management, Act 212 signed by Governor Linda Lingle in 2007 then Act 288 by Governor Neil in 2012, PETA is just another wild excuse of over regulated management and enforcement that shows no regard for traditions and customs which before any of these scientific data is excepted they need to talk to the people who have depended on the ocean resources for generations. Disallowing the rights of native Hawaiians to practice can be a human rights violation. if i cannot teach...
