My friend it is easy to sit in your comfort and ask for these humanitarian petition but look on the other side of the coin that what will these children do to feed themselves. It is right that child's place is in playground and not on the working field but remember my friend hunger is the biggest evil and again they will be forced to do work but this time not by anyone else but by there own fate. So this petition will only make their life worse unless it does not support an alternati for their livelihood

Very true - it's not just about stopping evil practices, but replacing them with good alternatives.

The proper alternative is for corporations that are exploiting children so they can more money to cease the practice and hire their parents. Most of these exploited children aren't just having to feed themselves but their whole families. Corporate greed is the problem and will continue to be as long as they can continue exploiting the poor.

I for one recall how in the United States in the pre war 1942 days kids were required to work in the fields- my Dad being among them- in order for the family to survive. While it may be abhorrent for us in our current day and time to think about it occuring her e, in the US surrounded with our "wealth" remember these people are NOT in the US, are NOT as advanced in society as are we and others and may well depend on their kids labor to survive. I am not advocating misuse of kids but there...

I am not advocating misuse of kids but there is nothing wrong with working and earning one's way and learning that ethos as kids. We in the US have taken it too far in the other direction, without looking to see the consequences and created a welfare state that is unsustainable over the long term and with dire consequences. I would support decent working conditions for any workers but to classify slave labor as one of these conditions without having proper documentation vai investigation is not any better than the one accused of promoting same

Of course children should not be slaves. However, the reality in such countries is that children who do not have this work will be forced into dangerous work with chemicals for example, or forced into prostitution and sexual abuse. There is nothing else for them. This petition needs to be followed up with financial provision for the children it seeks to save from child labour. Or perhaps get to the root of the endless problem and provide free contraception for women who cannot afford it....

Yes, Rangarao. This is not about ambition. It is greed, pure and simple. And it is unbelievably sad.
