It is hare to believe that people in this country can lose the focus of events that are happening and then spin the outcomes to suit their own personal opinions. This country was founded as a Constitutional Republic. That means that we have a rule book, the Constitution, and we are to follow it. Our forefathers even took into consideration that there should be a process for adjusting or "Amending" this book of rules and placed that process into the rule book. This country was founded as a Constitutional Republic. That means that we have a rule book, the Constitution, and we are to follow it. Our forefathers even took into consideration that there should be a process for adjusting or "Amending" this book of rules and placed that process into the rule book. This rule book considers that each individual citizen is to be responsible to society and to themselves to follow the "rules". We have one thing in our country that many countries do not have and that is personal liberties ... the right of free speech, the right of free religious choice, the right to bear arms, the right to own and the right to defend or protect ourselves and our property. Zimmerman was found not guilty of breaking our law ... his right to bear arms shall not be infringed, PERIOD!

you only needed guns cos Britain was invading. when was the last time the UK invaded? will they invade any time soon? well then, why do you have a right to bear arms? so your children can shoot each other in schools and in the home? so that white Americans can legally shoot black Americans? and Americans wonder why every other country in the world hates them....

The forefathers had hoped that common sense would come into play. The state should have taken awayhis right the moment there was a domestic violence incident. Had they done that Trayvon may be alive today.

He will harass and kill again. By then, it will be too late for justice for Martin. Still, maybe Zimmerman will finally end up behind bars, where he belongs.

Vesna Dalbelo, I am not wrong. Zimmerman was found NOT GUILTY. Why should legislation go after him? He has rights too. He was found NOT GUILTY. If legislation were to go after him, they would be violating his rights.

Zimmerman took away an innocent boy's right to walk home in peace. why should he get any rights at all? Zimmerman was already in trouble with the law. he was told not to approach. he wanted to murder, he has an aggression problem, and will murder again. should be behind bars

Rights ...lets see like your right to walk to a store and walk back home alive? Or the right to not be put on trial for your own murder? Or the right to fight for you life when you are stalked by a predator with a gun?

Walking while Black has been a crime for years in Florida. NOW it carries a death penalty.

And if neighborhood and police actually did something about the crime in their neighborhoods besides hiding out behind closed doors; criminals would be caught & neighborhood watches wouldn't be needed. A man protecting his neighborhood and keeping an eye on a suspicious person is not racist or against the law. A punk kid beating his ass to the ground and pounding his head on the cement IS a crime. No one stepped in to help and GZ was forced to use deadly force to stop his attacker. He was...

No one stepped in to help and GZ was forced to use deadly force to stop his attacker. He was a victim; regardless if the person attacking him was a teen or not! You attack someone like that; the system won't even recognize you as a minor. GZ had to stop the attack. He called for help and no one helped (accept called the police).

The real problem here is that half a dozen people call the police about the incident as it was occurring, and not a single one actually went outside to help "whoever" was screaming help at the top of their lungs. In the end this case just highlights the failings that many Americans have being cowards today. The situation could have been totally avoided if someone had just gone to help.

Yes, it says volumes. I was surprised though that it was just 2 minutes from when Zimmerman spoke to the police to when the police arrived. In the meantime and following the arrival of the police is the time when those 6 phone calls were made. In all this who was to know that Zimmerman had a gun, which is the whole point of this petition.

Why would anyone except the government need to know he carried a gun? Unless put in a situation when he need to use it (like in this case), it is actually illegal to show the weapon you are carrying. It's called "brandishing" and can get you arrested. Not to mention that a large number of people have an unwarranted phobia of firearms that is disproportionate to their actual effect. As for the phone calls, I listened to every single one, the first one had more than enough time to go outside...

The other callers could hear the altercation as it was going on and only called the police after they heard the gunshot, which tells me that they too had time to go outside and see what was going on.

So you want me to sign a petition to violate someone's second amendment rights? He was acquitted of the charges. It's a shame the teen got killed. But what about all of the gang murders in Chicago?

I believe when members of gang are discovered their gun privileges are taken away, therefore, if a person kills an innocent child in a derange way he should not be allowed to have a gun to do it again.

"shame" is a very light term to use for an adult killing a child. Zimmerman was already in trouble with the law

Cant sign this, if I were a juror he would have been not guilty too under the law. Travon drew first blood, when all he had to do was continue on home. It was a tragedy, yes it was, but he had a choice and made the wrong one. The Law is the Law. The jurors got it right with the guidelines they were presented under the law.

The law is the law? It seems to be the the law of convenience - depending on your social status (or race) . The LAW told him clearly - leave the boy alone. Instead, he creepily, not with full disclosure, followed, stalked and eventually murders with one fatal shot and kills an innocent child who was doing nothing wrong, just going home afyer buying a couple of snacks. And because he was black, he had to die because Zimmerman got out of the car with murder on his mind.
