Sad, George Zimmerman had to leave his SUV to find the street he was on, yet this was where he lived for 4 years and was neighbourhood watch. He definitely knew the street yet he left his SUV. He wanted this confrontation, because after being told not to pursue Trayvon Martin, he took the law on his own hands. He didn't have to leave his vehicle to know the street he was on. And the defence brought in a block of cement, as if Trayvon Martin brought that to this confrontation, he was fighting...

He wanted this confrontation, because after being told not to pursue Trayvon Martin, he took the law on his own hands. He didn't have to leave his vehicle to know the street he was on. And the defence brought in a block of cement, as if Trayvon Martin brought that to this confrontation, he was fighting for his life with a confrontational person that had a 9mm pistol. Just read this and you decide, the defence kept saying that the prosecution's case was all speculation because they had no witnesses that disputed their evidence, it's pretty hard for them to have a witness when their only witness is 6 feet under. I have a co-worker that is white married to an oriental and he looked at this objectively and until I said , "what if your 17 year old oriental son was followed by a 28 year old with a gun

Nicely put Jin Rhymeswith Shin, btw lots of people make this mistake and when its explained simply the way you explained it perhaps people will start listening. RIGHT ON! Now back to the issue at hand Mr. Zimmerman.

Zimmerman, shouldn't be issued a weapon ever again, no matter any circumstances. He disobeyed a 911 dispatcher's professional instructions not to exit his vehicle any further. I wonder whether he notified the 911 dispatcher that he was armed and had how different this whole situation may have been.

Wow!! That is a very good question: why didn't he tell the dispatcher he was packing?

He killed someone. He should be held accountable. If your family member was in TM's shoes how would you feel.

Scott, it wasn't the ACLU that found Zimmerman not guilty - it was the jury. Just like the jury who found OJ not guilty. And it wasn't the ACLU which passed Florida laws making it okay to shoot someone as long as you whined about thinking you were in danger. Let's put the blame where it really belongs...on the people who voted in the legislators and allow them to get away with this stuff, and the jurors who let the defense convince them that Zimmerman was a poor widdle wimp scared to death of an unarmed boy because he was Black.

Walking while Black has been a crime for years in Florida. NOW it carries a death penalty.

And if neighborhood and police actually did something about the crime in their neighborhoods besides hiding out behind closed doors; criminals would be caught & neighborhood watches wouldn't be needed. A man protecting his neighborhood and keeping an eye on a suspicious person is not racist or against the law. A punk kid beating his ass to the ground and pounding his head on the cement IS a crime. No one stepped in to help and GZ was forced to use deadly force to stop his attacker. He was...

You attack someone like that; the system won't even recognize you as a minor. GZ had to stop the attack. He called for help and no one helped (accept called the police).

The real problem here is that half a dozen people call the police about the incident as it was occurring, and not a single one actually went outside to help "whoever" was screaming help at the top of their lungs. In the end this case just highlights the failings that many Americans have being cowards today. The situation could have been totally avoided if someone had just gone to help.

Yes, it says volumes. I was surprised though that it was just 2 minutes from when Zimmerman spoke to the police to when the police arrived. In the meantime and following the arrival of the police is the time when those 6 phone calls were made. In all this who was to know that Zimmerman had a gun, which is the whole point of this petition.

Why would anyone except the government need to know he carried a gun? Unless put in a situation when he need to use it (like in this case), it is actually illegal to show the weapon you are carrying. It's called "brandishing" and can get you arrested. Not to mention that a large number of people have an unwarranted phobia of firearms that is disproportionate to their actual effect. As for the phone calls, I listened to every single one, the first one had more than enough time to go outside...

As for the phone calls, I listened to every single one, the first one had more than enough time to go outside and help. The other callers could hear the altercation as it was going on and only called the police after they heard the gunshot, which tells me that they too had time to go outside and see what was going on.

This is a travesty and denial of justice--Trayvon was unarmed and yelled for help. Vigilantes do not obey the law and Zimmerman is nothing but a kiler of an underage teenager.

He didn't yell for help - his family and friends jumped on that band wagon in order to prove GZ as the aggressor. GZ took a lie detector test and was proven truthful about that question and that it was "he" who called out for help.

I believe GZ screamed for help for biting more than he can chew when he picked on Trayvon. Then pulled out his gun cause he was getting his ass beat!

Nice from a man in the Military. Do you always talk like that to women? I didn't say I had lost faith in the country or the troops that protect our country.
