About time Singapore start a petition to get our government to listen and make more animal friendly policy.

Christel Sparks John Sparks

If they are responsible owners, letting them have a second dog will help your stray issues as they'll take them off the streets and spay/neuter so eventually strays will be rare. You let other residents have three dogs. Please loosen up the policy and allow more types of dogs as well as quantity of dogs to change. Thank you.

By letting one able unit keep an additional dog, will help to save 2 dogs. - Save the one you are adopting and make room for another rescue dog!

It does not gives the dog ample space to run around. Hence I'm not signing this petition.

2 HDB approved dogs do not take up anymore space than they need to run about. Their needed exercise shd be brought about from their owners bringing them for walks rather than determining their space at home with an extra dog. A lil thoughtful owner with 2 dogs approved policy would save much more lives

Roland, the responsible pet-keepers are supposed to take the dogs out for walks. Not every country has rolling hills and green meadows. In Singapore, animal welfare groups agree that it is humane to keep 2 dogs in flats for as long as pet-keepers do not cage them and care for them responsibly by taking them out for walks.

It is erroneous to say that you must not have a dog if you do not have a large landed property! Dogs merely need to be properly cared for and walked the right amount for their personality and breed requirements. I have a former racing greyhound and we lived in a tiny studio flat for a year, smaller than the smallest one room HDB!!! We went walking, That was enough. Any knowledgeable animal behaviourist can tell you this. Happy dogs are those with good, responsible owners, not necessarily large living spaces. :)

As am incentive to adopt, government should allow multiple dogs in HDB flag if the dogs are adopted and not bought from pet shops.

I agree. Adoption must be one of the criteria. Not bought from pet shops. Do not support puppy farms / puppy mills! Good point, Ping!
