Everything that our Nation has been built on, its very foundation, is expressed in those words. Like it or not God has been part of that foundation from the beginning. To stop reciting it because some ones feelings might be hurt is overly "politically correct". If some ones religion is offended by the use of the word God or someone does not believe, then don't say it! They have that freedom because our forefathers fought for it, but to completely remove the Pledge of Allegiance because of them is disrespectful to all who fought, to those who lost their lives and the blood that was shed for this Country. Too many of this Nations values are being given up because feelings might be hurt, if you don't like the values that our Country keeps sacrificing in the name of being "politically correct" then leave, because you have that freedom also!

thats just crazy, have u considered the people that dont believe in a god? how about muslim americans? should we force them to recite under god? what ever happened to freedom of religion? u want to take that away too?

again what Toni says is untrue, under god was only added after 1956, only "ONE" Founding father self identified as Christian. A nation does not need a GOD to be "good" or moral. infact a god does not make a good man do good, but religion could very well cause a good man to do bad.

Neither of you two can read, lol. Like I said above if you don't believe or it is not within your religion "DON'T RECITE IT" that is also a freedom we all have. You are all over the place in your comments Kevin, that its hard to even understand what you believe. And James where did I give a history lesson on the P.A.? I was obviously referring to what this Nation was founded on and like it or not that included God. If I implied that only God makes people moral I apologize. That is definitely...

I was obviously referring to what this Nation was founded on and like it or not that included God. If I implied that only God makes people moral I apologize. That is definitely not what I believe, as I don't believe in religion. The problem I have is the amount of sacrifice to our history being made all in the name of being politically correct. Because everyone is so selfish about what they "know" is right or wrong and no one can ever stop and say "this does not harm me, this does not infringe on my rights" and just show a little respect for PEOPLE and the history of our Nation

I can't say I agree with you about taking out "God" in the Pledge. I'm by no means a religious person and it does not bother me to have Gods name said. Though I do have to say that the fact that you had the respect to still capitalize it even though you do shows you are pretty awesome

Nobody is forcing you to say "under God". And whatever "God" you believe in is not dictated under as a state-religion. Those Americans who understand the history of this nation and the deep commitment and emphasis placed on religion by our Founding Fathers appreciate the hand of Providence in becoming a free nation... not to mention the first Europeans that came as Pilgrims seeking religious liberty, or the tens-of-thousands of Mormon Pioneers who helped conquer and settle the West. If you choose not to worship, or not even believe in a God... that's your right and liberty to do so. But it isn't your right to dictate what the rest of Americans can do, nor force your unbelief and ignorance of history upon the rest of us. Kevin Hopkins you don't get it. Because your rights end where mine begin. I want my children to recite the pledge and learn about how their ancestor fought for our liberties. I want them to know the faith in God they had from the Mayflower and before. I respect your right to sit out when we pray or say the pledge. Now can you respect mine to say it and to pray? What is it with people like you who think giving me rights somehow takes away yours. You would take my rights away?

This is a disgrace to our ancestors who came to this country seeking freedom. Our forefathers fought many battles and suffered great losses in order for us to be free. The Constitution of the United States is a flawless document, one that provides freedom for all. People who are in favor of changing it should find a different place to live. United we stand and divided we fall.

I agree with what you said,"divided we fall". If this nation does not turn itself around, get back on the right side of morality with God Almighty, and doesn't cease in promoting, encouriaging, and enacting sin as okay and national law to be recognized by all, then America is going to fall and fall hard.

leave america because i dont believe in god? thats crazy thinking what happened to my rights not to believe? american is about the both of us having the freedom to choose to believe and worship a god or not . american is NOT about u forcing your religious beliefs on others. if u don t like that and camt respect my choice then maybe u should leave america since your ideaogly is completely un american

Whoever started this petition did not do their research. Only six states do not require schools to recite the pledge. In my state, it is the law to recite it in schools. The kids choose if they want to participate, but it is recited daily. http://undergod.procon.org/view.resource.php?resourceID=000074

It is not about laws. Schools have the choice to decide whether or not to have the Pledge recited. You can have two different schools in the same city with different policies. It's about bringing back the values that this Nation was founded on.

America was founded on Christian principals in 1776 and our declaration of Independence was signed,we the people..why because it's the 20th century do Americans(not illegals) think we can change our principals. The pledge of Allegiance be changed now.If America is worried about offending anyone, then they themselves are in the wrong Country, love it or leave it.!
