The pledge is NOT to the President. It is to the flag and to the Republic for which it stands. No allegiance is sworn to the President ever. Our loyalty is to the U.S., not to Obama. He may have the title of President but he is only an elected official even if he does believe he is a god.
I understand this, but I still don't think the kids should be forced into it. If they want to recite it then feel free, and if they don't then they shouldn't have to. In school, after I had made up my own mind and started to understand things a little better, I chose to stand but not recite. The reason why I stood at all was to honor the men and women we have lost for that flag, The reason I didn't recite was because I felt like it was a forced action and I don't put on a show for anyone!...

Never have and never will! And I think that our children should be able to make their own choice!
Way back when I was in school the pledge was said daily. Kids that did not want to say it stood but remained silent. And those that weren't religious left out the "under God". Removing the pledge completely denies the rights of the majority. Nobody here is trying to say that a child must say it, but that the right to do so should be respected as much as the right not to.
Children aren't adult enough to know what is right and what is wrong. It is the responsibility of adults to show them the difference. I must apologize but if I let my children decide what they wanted to do all the time, they would be voting for people like Obama.
I'm really sorry that you feel this way. I'm sure our veterans who fought for you to have this right to your freedoms will also understand your disrespect. I am a mother and a sister to 2 of those veterans who have fought to protect your rights and your freedom and your safety. And as a mother of a veteran, I must say this saddens me. To pledge allegiance to the flag is not to the president. It is to our country and to the men who have gone before us and protected us. It is history. Children...

Children today need to learn their history and it seems some adults also. I thank God everyday to live in a country where I am free. And by the way, I thank all our veterans for my freedom and safety everyday! God bless our troops. And God bless those who support this great country we live in.
Wow, use guilt to try to bully someone into doing something you might think right, but that they do not. Freedom should mean freedom to do what one thinks is correct, not what someone else wants you to do.
I'm sorry you felt I was bullying. I never meant it that way at all. I am allowed my rights to free speech also and I do not agree with the president on many things. But I thank God I live in a country where we can even have this conversation. And no bullying I'm just a proud mother and sister to my veterans.
Sonja you're pledging allegiance to our country not an administration. This is much bigger than one man or parties.
Allegiance to the FLAG is in no way allegiance to the president. It is only to the flag and to the republic for which it stands.
Not to the corrupt president who calls himself Barack Hussein Obama. Rather, to the defense of our country, to the love of your God, to the people of this nation. This is a matter of education. By removing the pledge, we are removing everything else we hold dear to this once great nation.
We always said the pledge of allegiance with our hand over our heart. We would talk about the words and what the meaning of the words. It gave us pride not only in our country but also our military. If you have no respect for our FLAG then you need to go back to your country. .Visitor's that want to stay in American should want to respect our traditions not try to do away with them.
It is another lesion in respect! Respect the Country you live in! If you don't like it move!
I said the pledge everyday though out my entire school years and it should be mandatory for ever in all schools.
I still say it daily hun! Makes me feel good inside and there are a large group of children that also love itand say it with me! :) No, not a school teacher or I would have went on strike and tried to convince teachers all over our Country to strike as well. Might have stopped the Pledge from being removed!
I would totally agree with this if not for the aspect of it cramming Christian beliefs down children's throats.you want to share your beliefs with YOUR children, do it in YOUR home NOT in public schools.
I guess you FORGOT that THIS Country was FOUNDED on GOD and WE still BELIEVE in HIM. So maybe YOU need Private Schools for YOUR Children.
Someone desperately needs a history lesson. The Pledge of Allegiance didn't have God anywhere in it until 1954. It's a Public School paid for by public funds, religion doesn't need to be anywhere near it. If you want to put YOUR kids into a Religious school where you can talk about your religion, you have that right, but talking about religion in the context of a public school is wrong because not everyone is a Christian.
But this country is still a nation under God the creator and he loves us all and we was created to love and to warship him and my friend is not a believe its a fact
you don't like our pledge of Allegiance. Then get the heck out our country
And leave it to right wing extremist war mongers and hate mongers who want to force people to think "correctly" ie like they do? I don't think so.
IT SOMETHING ABOUT HOLDING YOUR HAND OVER YOUR HEAR, AND SAYING THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. IT MAKE COLD CHILLS RUN OVER MY BODY.
Tonight I saw a glimps of a new TV show and they actually had two drunk people on the show. Some sort of game show and I had heard a promo then caught it out of the corner of my eye. As a nation we are sick and the cure must go to the children the pledge would be a good start.
i disagree a god education and moral would be a better start where r the parents?
There really is no hope for you guys at all ...the Pledge is "gonna" solve everything wrong with the country..it won't even make a start....
From where I sit north of the US/Canada border it seems Americans do pretty well in showing patriotic fervor. I would like to see more pledge of allegiance and singing of the national anthem in our Canadian schools.
My granddaughter is having a baby in early August. She, too, will recite the pledge when she is old enough and we as a family will be proud.
Oh no, uhuh....I was just talking about this today before I got this email! No, absolutely not! It's forbidden to teach religion in public schools, and if they tried, you same people would be raising hell! So tell me, what makes it right to make our children pledge an allegiance to a corrupt government? The same people that I signed a petition for to impeach the President now wants their children pledging their loyalty to him.....No uhuh....no way in hell!
