I love milk and diary product, but I do not want to be responsible for such actions. Milk can be taken from cows without taking away and killing their babies or killing any other form of life. This is what we should reach to! The laws on Diary farms and the system have to change in this regard !

Because of the HUGE demand of cow's milk, there's no way farms can let babies be with their moms because they'll be drinking all the milk and not enough to sell and they cannot keep the male ones, so they are killed. If you don't like what's happening to them, don't wait for a miracle, but just switch to other plant milks. There are soy milk (tastes great) , hemp milk (has Omega 3 and 6), Almond milk, rice milk. They come in vanilla, chocolate, plain and so yummy! You can also cook and bake...

There are so many vegan alternatives now that there's absolutely no reason to continue consuming dairy. Our family favorite is Flax milk. You can buy it at Sprouts and it's AWESOME!

I thought that most people realized that milk is meant for the baby cows and not for humans. Wouldn't it be sad if one day, through reincarnation, we became the cow or some other animal? I am serious about this. Wouldn't it be interesting if we all had a chance to be the cows, the sheep, the chickens and all the other animals that go through a horrible death for human consumption. Wouldn't that be interesting karma if those that hurt animals ended up BEING the animals in the next life?

soy milk taste 100 times better than anything that comes from an animal. no animals are mutilated or tortured or tormented or manipulated to produce soy milk. and its 100 times better for your body than the disease and poison and pus and blood and bacteria in your precious jug of milk.

Etian Chris, I agree with you but also with the others - however taste of cow milk is different from soy (which I like) and from other vegetal milks. Realistically, we can encourage people to become vegans, but this won't be enough. Is there a way to develop sustainable dairy production? Of course, slow down the consumption/ production will be the first thing, but are there labels for "sustainable dairy products or beef" ? I live in Europe (Italy and Sweden), and I have stayed in France for...

Of course, slow down the consumption/ production will be the first thing, but are there labels for "sustainable dairy products or beef" ? I live in Europe (Italy and Sweden), and I have stayed in France for 1 year and spent some holidays in the UK and Germany. However, I have just seen the "Organic" green label on chicken and sometimes on pork or beef, and of course on eggs or dairy products, but I am not sure that "Organic" means also that the animal are treated in the less possible painful way. Please let me know! Thank you a lot. Elisa

I don't drink milk but I eat cheese, eggs and meat. I am really thinking of going vegan because of factory farming and my health. I don't believe that it's good to eat things that are tortured throughout their lives, Morally it is so wrong but health wise it is just not a good idea. They release all kinds of bio chemicals in response to pain, stress and fear. Not to mention, the filth that they live in and how and what they are fed.

Or you can buy milk and milk products from small farmers in your area. It costs more and takes more time than a trip to the store, but its worth it. This is my first year raising dairy sheep and my lambs stay with their moms half the day, then get separated at night. I milk in the morning. Of course, I loose half my product to the lambs but they are healthier and happier. Production is down so it takes me 2 or 3 days to get a gallon of milk with my system. My prices show that: $15 for a...

My prices show that: $15 for a gallon of the sweetest milk you've ever had (sweeter than cow, without the funky taste of goat, thicker in cream) Most small dairy farmers care for their animals on a personal level. So far I don't tag my animals because I know them by name. The other small farmers I know run very different opperations than what you need to run to compete in a $2.99 a gallon business

Btw, most Soya beans are genetically modified, at least in South Africa where I am. Also the United States and Brazil. Further, cultures that have used soy for many millenia, like the Japanese never eat un-fermented soy products. Un-fermented soy contains ensymes similar to oestrogen which the human body treats as oestrogen. So soy milk is not really good for you and most of the time they add to much sugar anyway. If you need to have a milk-like substance, rather have rice milk or oat milk....

This the same story for all industrial farming concerning animals. And if only the vegetables could make noises.... Industrial farming is the problem, not drinking milk. Raw milk is very healthy. I lived close to an African village on the border of South Africa and Swaziland. The farmers never kill young bull calves. Every animal is prized. They rarely kill any cattle, only for special festivities. In winter, they don't milk cows as they know that the cows do not have enough milk to feed...

But in spring and summer, when grazing is plenty, it is not a problem. Western culture has moved so far away from nature, our industrial culture makes war on the planet....

More respect & kindness to cows, drink soya, rice or almond milk. Change the laws of the dairy industry & be aware of what distress the mother & the calf goes thru....its time for massive changes

this is certainly the norm, but i don't think all dairy farmers do this. so if you want to drink milk and eat dairy then support the farmers who are lovin' their cows. check if your organic grass-fed, antibiotic-free dairy producers are practicing these. if they go thru all those other steps to prevent cruelty, they are most likely milking and allowing the babies to feed too. a mother will make enough. does anyone know about this. i want to call the number on the back of the organic milk i...

That is just disgraceful and so cruel. How can humans do that to innocent animals. That poor mother is in such distress and the little calf is looking for its mother. Something must be done to stop this abuse.
