I will sign as many of 'Max's' petitions as needed. The officers should have DEFUSED to situation.THEY saw the guy walking around with this dog.DID they think the dog would just disappear?Lets say the guy places his dog in the car. WHO just pulls out a gun to shot?Maybe we don't need that kind of people as police officers.THEN he continues to shoot as the dog is movingAWAY!EVERY police dept needs to revisit their protocol when dealing with animals. They need training by humane, experienced trainers. These officers brought this on themselves. They deserv

Unfortunately, Liz, Salmon saw an opportunity to get back at Rosdy, whom he recognized. I think he deliberately provoked this situation (look at his face: he's full of hatred!). As you said he has no business being in the police force, and neither have his colleagues!

@ Laura J.Hearn The dog was NOT off leash. The owner had placed the dog in the car & the dog jumped out the car window. The officers should have thought ahead on this situation. & realized the dog may try to help his owner. The owner was filming the police. Where is that against the law? If anything ,it would help to see the truth of what is happening. I agree I would not do that with my dog,BUT everyone on the scene has a responsibility to make sure that dog is ok.

There is absolutely no excuse for this wanton gunning down of an innocent animal, period. These police should, at the very least, lose their jobs.

I won't sign this petition, because this incident didn't have to happen at all. If the owner of the dog hadn't been there taunting the police, with his dog outta the car and off the leash, this wouldn't have happened at all. Where's the owners responsibility in this! The cops were there doing their doing their job!!

And their work does not imply safeguard human and animal life ? and The police of the United States does not have control less lethal weapons than guns ??? They did a bad job or training to handle these cases is lousy ...

Sorry, they weren't. They were simply trigger happy. A life was lost. Just too bad it wasn't theirs. Too many police officers believe they are above the law and act as such. They need prosecuting. If the owner was negligent, then he too should face consequences but your though process is wrong on this.

they were pissed off that he was taking photos, he was nowhere near them, how bad a shot do you have to be? Right in front and more than one shot? Sorry this policeman needs to go.

I am sorry I have to agree with Lara some what don't know why the police arrest the man don't seem to me he was doing anything but taking pictures of the officers and that sometimes pisses the police off I know the police in the town I live in sometimes get aggressive and tend to bully people. However the man put the dog in the car he should have secured it better by rolling up the window more so dog could not climb out knowing the police where coming down the side walk to arrest him it...

However the man put the dog in the car he should have secured it better by rolling up the window more so dog could not climb out knowing the police where coming down the side walk to arrest him it was failure of foresight on the owners part to secure his dog. When the dog got out it jumped twice at the police officer on the second time the officer shot the dog. I agree the where less lethal means the police office could have used and I think they could have shown more restraint in their approach to me they seemed overly aggressive toward the mañana the dog but in the end the gentlemans failure to properly secure his dog in the car is what led to the dogs death.

OMG How wrong was that .. the dog didn't even do anything to prompt being shot .. he just wanted to find out what was going on with his guardian .. if those cops have so much FEAR of animals then they should be on a damn desk job .. and the guardian did nothing but record them .. WTF .. i owned a Rottweiler and I worked at a Police Dept for 6 years.... this was EXTREMELY DISTURBING .. ARREST ALL OF THE OFFICERS INVOLVED !!!!!!!!
