Sad video to watch - The pet was only protecting his master whose apparent constitutional rights were being violated by the officers.

TOTAL bs by this officer. HANG HIM. his fin defense will be that the dog was charging him. You're an asshole dude, and deserve to be punished. If one of your police dogs got killed you would be charging whoever with murder. Double standard dude. Yeah you are a punk!

A lot of people are saying the dog's guardian (I don't use the term "owner") provoked his own dog into attacking. What video were you watching??? The COP provoked the dog. What kind of idiot sees a dog coming near his guardian in that tense situation and tries to touch the dog?? If that cop backed off and let the man under arrest put the dog in the car, or waited for animal control to get there, that dog would not have attacked. Either way, I could easily have handled that dog without any catastrophic injuries to myself or the dog. At the very least if he felt his life was in danger he could have shot the dog in the hindquarters, keeping the dog from jumping at him and still sparing the dog's life.

i saw a dog upset by his owner being manhandled. but he was not being agressively dangerous to the officers. they need to be trained in handling these situations. no animal should be killed for simply barking, this is so sad

Had the owner have minded his own business and kept driving MAX would have still been alive.Had the owner had the windows partially open rather than all the way down MAX would have still been alive. While the police officer did have his gun drawn and at the ready he used reasonable restraint and did not fire his weapon until the last second when MAX lunged at him. I love dogs, I own four of them, and I would never place them in a situation like this. So let's put the blame where it really belongs, on MAX's owner.

Robert: That's exactly what I said. Not necessarily in those words, but the dog's owner is just as much responsible for his dog's death, as is the cops. He didn't have to get involved. Others were filming the events as they were unfolding and then he started to film the cops. That's provocation. He provoked the cops and placed his dog in danger. I have two dogs and would never put them or myself in danger. Had he minded his own business and kept driving, his dog would still be alive. The way...

The way I see, is anything to accuse cops of anything and then get rabble-rousing spinmeisters into this mess.

I am a rottie owner. This guy baited the cops who were busy then primed his dog whose only mission in life was to love and protect this fool. He sacrificed his dog for what? I hope the ton of money he will get in the coming lawsuit will keep him warm at night. I would rather cuddle my dog. I hope he can never get the image out of his mind. Tragic for the innocent dog. What a fool! He does not represent rottie owners.

While I agree that the idiot owner hold a large chunk of responsibility, I still feel that as an officer, supposedly trained, he SHOULD have had and used other avenues to restrain the dog.......Pepper spray???...Taser????? Why the need to go to guns so quickly???.......The dog was NOT that aggressive, just curious as to what was happening to his idiot owner

How do you know that this was not the dog owners neighboring house that he could not get to and was simply trying to find out what was going on and go home to protect or console his family? We don't know what the situation was but we do know that no matter what, the dog should not have been shot.

I can't even call him an officer. Cops seam to shoot first ask questions later when it comes to animals & that's wrong. I've been around animals my whole life & have been bitten by many dogs. I still love them & would never shoot one. Being bit doesn't cause death, at least not a bite or two. If the dog bites then maybe the cop could taze it first. I wouldn't want that cop working any where around where I live. Find another perfetion Salmon. You're not a cop. You don't deserve to wear that uniform or that badge.
