Poor baby. R.I.P. But not only the Sumatrans are responsible, we all are. We have to boycott products containing palm oil and write to the manufacturers to let them know that we do not want palm oil in our food. As long as there is a demand, there will be people and governments ready to satisfy that demand for profit.
Agreed ! :(
I agree, please tell me how I can boycott these items and what manufactures to write to,
I cannot fathom how these ignorant villagers could have done such a horrible thing to poor, innocent, baby animal! My heart breaks so much and I feel so helpless to not be able to do anything that might have saved this baby's life. Ignorance is a sin! Boycott palm oil!
INADMISSIBLE! Those barbarians must be caught and punished!!!!!
they are so cruel to animals. I cried everytime i saw a monkey, chained, in tiny cages where they can't move, then forced to do stupid things that make idiots laugh and give some coins to the guy who exhibit the monkey. How the monkeys were looking at me... I could do nothing, just cry
If it hurts than don't visit this country unless you are living there. This is way I'm not traveling to the countries who don't respect animals and humans and unfortunately there are many of them.
If you cried when you saw an animal in chains were it belongs...cause its wild...you really would've been upset to see people in chains... #humanlifeismostimportant. Let's petition to protect human life....
BOYCOTT PALM OIL!
What will happen when all these angels are gone from this world ? We'll just look back and say what have we done......
not "we" but the monsters that troll this earth & harm innocent , helpless creatures of God...what "they'have done :'(
Damned Indonesia again! What is wrong with these people? In addition to the oil issues, If everyone boycotted this place as a holiday destination - and let these people see we do not tolerate animal abuse - maybe they would show a little more respect for the animals that were there LONG before they were. Every day there is something else; something worse; deliberate abuse. FOR THOSE SUPPOSEDLY 'RELIGIOUS' you would think they could show far more respect for other living things.
Further to an earlier message (another elephant in the same situation, posted this morning on fb page "Save Queenie save elephants) an update is posted: "Raju IS NOT IN THE HANDS OF VIULAGERS! Further to an earlier message (another elephant in the same situation, posted this morning on fb page "Save Queenie save elephants) an update is posted: "Raju IS NOT IN THE HANDS OF VIULAGERS! He has been rescued. Here is the update I received via email from the head of conservation at Elephant Family: 'I can assure you that baby Raju is now at the government elephant camp at Saree, which although perhaps not the best place for him in the long-term, is the only place in the short-term where he can be given 24 hour care. I spoke to our lead vet in Sumatra this morning, and his organisation that’s our main partner there – the Veterinary Society for Sumatran Wildlife Conservation – are also attending to Raju and have provided milk formula. Raju is also able to socialise with another young rescued calf, which is good for both of them". So, if true, action has been taken. Anyway "Elephant Family" will receive a (small) donation this week.
@Daisy - I just checked the Elephant Family website and it says that baby Raju has died: http://www.elephantfamily.org/what-we-do/campaigns/raja/
Rest in peace, Raja. Apologies for the cruelty. Heartbreaking.
It's unfortunately typical of this race. They have no compassion for their own race let alone their animals. I will never travel to any of these countries purely because of their lack of respect for animals full stop.
