Hideous. That dog was of medium size, and didn't look vicious, only as if he was demonstrating the usual loyalty dogs have for their owners. The man gave himself up voluntarily, and beyond the fact that fact that the dog seemed able to be restrained without being killed, what looked like sheer cruelty was the way the officer shot him repeatedly and then just stood back calmly, holding his fire while he WATCHED the dog writhe in pain. Why wouldn't he at least "finish off" the animal he...

Why wouldn't he at least "finish off" the animal he put in great pain in the first place?...That looked VERY sadistic. No one wants a sick, sadistic individual "officially" carrying a badge and a gun.

Totally agree! Take away the gun before he shots another innocent bystander. This is outrageous. That insect of a human should be shot and left to die slowly...

That officer have NO self control and needs to be FIRED! There were people around who could have EASILY been harmed from gunshots being fired for No Reason! ANY officer who pulls their gun so quickly and without good cause, Does Not Deserve To Serve THE PEOPLE.

Wow! That's quite an assessment. 4 times Max came at them. I believe the police showed remarkable self control. I know that there might have people off screen and in the line of fire, but there was nobody on screen and in the line of fire. Trust me, when a large, powerful dog, of the type that is frequently used for guard dog, is coming right at you, 4 times (one time being to within a foot or less of your body) the shots are not "for no reason". I disagree with your last statement. The...

I disagree with your last statement. The officer saw a real, potential threat (large dog who's owner was being held by the police) and responded as he should have. I'm pretty sure he didn't pull his gum thinking, "Oh goody, I get to shoot a big dog. Wait 'till I get his head mounted on my wall." Is that what you think he was thinking? Max's health and safety still set squarely on the shoulder of Max's owner.

I wish that the Police Force take this example of how to manage a dog and initiate serious training for their officers in view of the large numbers of people's pets who are gunned down needlessly by police officers who are inadequately trained to handle dogs. Whilst using weapons on innocent dogs is sickening and unacceptable, the fact that police officers have no idea on how to manage dogs which are people's pets is beyond comprehension for a country where dogs are part of every community...

Whilst using weapons on innocent dogs is sickening and unacceptable, the fact that police officers have no idea on how to manage dogs which are people's pets is beyond comprehension for a country where dogs are part of every community in the USA! I wonder what do these officers do when they are confronted by dogs out on the streets, parks, in people's yards etc when they are off duty with out weapons? The public needs educating too!

Cathy Manfredo-Smolinsky

how inhumane and what did this dog do to deserve this...this is indeed animal abuse and they should be removed from law enforcement and fired immediately...i 'm sure this will be aired nationwide!!

Unacceptable and must be investigated. So many innocent pets are gunned down mercilessly without cause by gun happy police officers. No police officer is above the law and its time that their superiors take action against these unlawful killing of people's pets. The USA is worst that the backward countries as people's pets do not seem to have any rights? Sickening really!

The policeman didnt´t have to kill that dog, he obviously just wanted to do it. There where so many ways to avoid this incident, makes me question how these policeman are trained. He can´t be trusted with firearms, he should be fired immediately!

Same here and in a heartbeat. My wife and used to have a Rottie too. Every cop that was part of the poor dog's killing should be fired without any benefits.
