I'd love to help---reach me at [email protected]. Frankly, I've never heard of anyone mocking a VET with PTSD. I'm not signing the petition because I'd hate to think one afflicted with PTSD is being mocked! I'm willing to sign this petition one issue at a time. Please change it so I may sign, also. Or, educate me on our military being mocked.
Beverly, the stigma of PTSD gets passed a long by stupid jokes. One of the worst is that PTSD is not real. It's just another way to milk the system.
Another is that if you have PTSD, you are weak... or crazy to start with.
I hired a law firm to represent me in a divorce. The law firm was my worst enemy. It openly used my PTSD against me, so they could over-charge me, bill me falsely, come to court unprepared, etc, etc etc. I kid YOU NOT...
Who would believe a 'Rambo-type-vet' against the word of a powerful law firm?
This has nothing to do with politics, and everything to do with human dignity and respect...PTSD IS REAL!
Male & Female are the usual target of the jokes & discrimination, but Cops, Firefighters, Doctors, EMTs, Battered Women, Abused Children etc. can all suffer from this affliction. Oh, it also rarely manifests itself in violent behavior. PTSD, does not discriminate by race, gender, politics, religion or age. Many men & women are is serious need & will not seek help for fear of being labeled ,outcast or being relieved from employment.
Signed, my hubby is a Vietnam Vet!
Does anyone know a good combat-related PTSD therapy group
You can find resources on the web....here are a few that I found that might help you.....http://ptsd.supportgroups.com/;ptsd.meetup.com/;www.mdjunction.com/post-traumatic-stress
jack we in UK veterans are doing our bit can we the HILT FOUNDATION help
Remember PTSD is not just from this war it goes back to WW II. Known as shell shock, Korean war all messed up, Viet Nam Just Crazy. So let stop this and take care all of our VETERANS.
PTSD and the stigma attached to it is why so many people, NOT just Veterans, refuse to seek treatment. Veterans both
PTSD affects more people than just military men and veterans....it affects a lot of everyday people as well. I think more awareness of this is a good thing for people and can assist people in having a better understanding of eachother.
