They have given up everything for people we did not even know. Some have given up the ultimate sacrifice for this country and we ask nothing in return. The least this country could do is help the ones coming back that have certain needs such as medical ect. This very little for what has been risked.

speaking as a veteran I have to say this is a bit of an over-reaction to a problem that does not exist. speaking as a veteran I have to say this is a bit of an over-reaction to a problem that does not exist. I was never denigrated by anti-war activists when I returned home, nor did I ever witness anything of the sort take place. I was opposed to the war before, during and after my service. The members of the active war opposition movement were tremendously supportive and their efforts saved the lives of thousands of my brothers-in-arms. The only discrimination I encountered was from police and members of our society who looked at me as a worthless bum, "the homeless problem" and not as a human dealing with issues no 20 year old should have to deal with. We veterans receive preference for jobs, housing, education and many other things. The Westboro Baptist Church is about the only abuse I see and this won't fix that. Legislation establishing a new homesteading act for veterans would be a much more effective idea. It would give millions of us a much needed leg up.
