Why are so many states enacting this legislation if it's gutting our voting rights? That's ridiculous...voter fraud is a bigger problem, and having to show a photo ID is not designed to keep anyone from voting. Photo ID's are free, and transportation is available for those who say they have none. People should be able to prove who they are, and there is nothing wrong in asking all citizens to provide a photo ID when they show up at the polls. The only ones who won't get to vote are non-citizens...

When once said by great Leader "Elections belong to the people. It's their decision. If they decide to turn their back on the fire and burn their behinds, then they will just have to sit on their blisters" Abraham Lincoln
If people still don't want to take it up then what say.... how will there be any change??

Please sign this petition. It is dumbfounding not to see that so many states across this nation are enacting laws to eliminate or make more difficult the right to vote.

What is so difficult about obtaining and showing valid and legal ID?

Every registered voter must have a voters ID card, maybe tied in with your license. After the illegal double and triple voting admitted to by democrats in Pa, Fl, Ks, and Il., we must not allow an election to be stolen. If the damn dems did it once with no repercussions, you can bet they'll do it again. I will not sign a petition unless a voters ID card is part of the amendment. And stop blaming Rupublicans. The liberal left bought the last election, and you tell me how the dems could...

The liberal left bought the last election, and you tell me how the dems could win 110% of one district in Philly, and 125% of one in Florida, same in Ohio. No one is making a mockery out of our system because they are union, or black, or getting paid off, or voting if they're dead. Good clean honest election for ALL. Voters ID is the only way, and why do Democrats make such a big deal out of it. You have to show ID for everything. It's time elections were clean again

That was wrong and that person was treated unfairly and discriminated against. It needs to be a common government issued ID such as a driver's license or state ID card that EVERYONE who comes to vote needs to show. ID is needed to board an airplane, give blood, be treated in an Emergency Room, when pulled over for a traffic stop, so it should definitely be asked for when showing up to vote.

Amendment XV, Section 1 of the Constitution says "The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude." Section 2 says "The Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation."

Yes and that has not been changed, it simply allows for people's ID to checked to be sure they are eligible to vote in a certain election and not coming from another state or district and it keeps illegal immigrants from voting.

SCOTUS didn't throw down a negative ruling...it put the issue back where it belongs...Congress. The formula for adjusting for population hasn't been changed or updated since 1965! We are a post Civil Rights Movement (ala Selma) and have no need to chain ourselves to a environment that no longer fits. Instead, lets make sure our laws are serving those it intends to serve and protect. We can not do that if we do not operate on real information. We have New Black Panthers Party leaders and members stalking voting sites, we have apathetic voters of all stripes who simply have walked away, we have first generations American's that are voting for the first time, we have a new generation (millennials) who are stepping up and voting. We are so diverse and such a different environmental makeup then our founders of the Civil Rights Movement could have ever dreamed of. It is more than time to ensure and update protections based on real information, not ghosts of 'what once was'.

The problem is nothing is getting done by the House of Representatives - so chances of getting the appropriate legislation done is problematical.

I certainly agree with the objective of this petition, but I'm not sure the proposed amendment would solve the problem. The Supreme Court didn't strike down the principle that people have the right to vote, just the preclearance mechanism that has been used to guarantee that right. If we need an amendment, it is one to restore preclearance. On the other hand, a simple law would probably do as well in this case. However, good luck on getting any of this passed.

Whereas we the people are created equal, and
whereas we the people are endowed with certain inalienable rights, and
whereas we the people instituted a government to secure these rights, and
whereas we the people lay the foundation on such principles, and organize its power in such form, as to us shall seem most likely to effect the above objective, do require the following Bill of Rights for Voting Equality.
