He should go to jail and pay for what he did. The fact that he is an officer should not be a free pass for him to get a slap on the wrist!

Heck, he didn't even get a slap on the wrist!! The stupid Chief AND the mayor BOTH seem to think it is ok what this moron did!!! Well, it is NOT and they ALL should be charged and taken out of their positions!!!

I spoke with a person with the Humane Society there. The city will not assist in a CNR program. I gave her some ideas on how they might be able to raise the money for such a program. I think that it is due to ignorance. If they had a capture/neuter/release program their wouldn't be unwanted kittens. The ferrules will eventually expire naturally with no reproduction. However, this officer should be fired.

My thoughts exactly. Just neuter them and let them go. Instead they prefer to murder them in cold blood.

Anyone that kills an animal in cold blood, inhumanely, (especially kittens!!!!) in front of children, at their own home- should be put in jail. The children will be scarred for life, and this guy goes on working and could do more of the same if no action is taken. THROW THE GUY IN JAIL ALREADY!!! WHY IS IT SO HARD TO DO?!?!

Elizabeth Ann Scarborough

Good for the Ohio SPCA and their attorney! I hope they can save other animals from such brutal killings. Poor little kittens.

That so called mayor and his force should step down from their positions now seeing thst this has been going on way to long and no one has done anything to getthe humane society involved in this..all those animals in the past that have been murdered that were innocent looking for a good human to take them in as family and keep them safe..law enforcement needs training in animal compassion and just because the shelters are full is no reason to kill them ..the shelters should be calling in...

Even then there was no reason to kill them, the lady was currently watching over them. Why kill homeless animals anyways? It's not like we have people imprisoning or killing hobos even though they're all over the streets too. If people would simply get the strays neutered then set them free thats all that would be needed. Murdering them is going too far.

Here is a person who's job it is to protect and serve. If he were not an officer would he be in jail now? I think so.

What I meant was I would have stood in front of the kittens to shield them from him and called him a few choice names.

It's like the old saying goes... A fish rots from the head down. That said, it's no surprise this is how the Mayor & the Police Cheif responded. I pray that justice will prevail in the end!

Yes, the shelters may be full. But there are foster homes available. To needlessly take the life of a companion animal, whose breed was shaped and formed by man, for companionship to man, and who is dependent upon mankind, without any attempt to nurture or re-home, is an abuse of power. This rash and thoughtless act is also a crime against nature, against God, and against all reasonable and compassionate thinking. If homelessness was justification for death by gunshot, then anyone without a home should be murdered, by this way of thinking. This man, on all counts, is wrong. Legally, and morally, wrong. To exhibit such behavior in front of small children, is a horrific and life-altering error on his part. Those children will never erase this moment and its implications from their memory. He has scarred these children by his rash and erroneous actions.
