Anytime elected leaders are willing to hurt/kill/maim in an attempt to squash opposition to its policies, then they have lost their mandate to rule.

My heart goes out to Turkey b/c tear gas n chemical laced water canons are used on all peaceful demonstrators in my country too. The ruling party has ruled for over 50 yrs vs 10 in yours. Yr struggle is my struggle too. I hope n pray u succeed.

Tear Gas is highly toxic and can even kill you. It burns the skin, eyes, throat for hours. It cannot be washed off by water, one must just wait the effects to run their course. It sticks to houses, cars, clothes etc and hard to get rid of.

Chemical bombs like tear gas and pepper spray should not be called nonlethal, for they are only nonlethal if used within strict technical norms to prevent severe harm to individuals. Chemical bombs like tear gas and pepper spray should not be called nonlethal, for they are only nonlethal if used within strict technical norms to prevent severe harm to individuals. At least one person died in the protests in Brazil from inhaling tear gas (it was thrown indiscriminately by the Brazilian military police inside bars full of people – already running away from streets that had been completely gassed – inside hospitals and universities). Some people call these weapons lesser-lethal weapons to remind us that they must be employed within such norms. Canisters used after expiration date (see photographs in the Brazilian social networks) can also be lethal. Pepper spray can also lead to death from respiratory complications for it may cause severe harm if inhaled at close range. Rubber-bullets, also used by Brazilian police, can penetrate the skin and kill if shot at very close range.

No ruler is alone, listen to the people, if you think you can force them to stop you just win a battle but for sure you lose the war. Your people deserve a better treatment.
