whenever such crimes come into news there is a flurry protests for a month. The criminals & their associates know it well and wait out that time. The real problem for the victim begins after that. The institutions bury the case in the backyard , the intellectuals go for some new program, and life moves on. All promises are forgotten, all the candlesticks burn out and the victimised family is forced to accept their fate and the culprits start afresh. Writing a...

Writing a letter to the insensitive Govt machinery will not solve any problem. They will laugh at us and throw our well crafted letter in waste bin. If our concern is real, can we think about a group who will continue to work for a victim's family beyond that glam period of one month for as long as it is required to ensure that perpetrators of the crime are brought to book and the victims family get's whatever support they need as long as needed. I shall love to be part of such group. Any takers?

I think a demand should be raised to the Govt. in addition for undertaking an awareness campaign for the common citizens on which laws are there for them in this regard and how to take advantage of those laws. Many of us fail to understand that irrespective of the colour of the Govt. these demands need be raised to stop violence perpetrated on our own sisters and daughters, even if no protest was raised earlier. Many of us fail to understand that irrespective of the colour of the Govt. these demands need be raised to stop violence perpetrated on our own sisters and daughters, even if no protest was raised earlier. That should not be any excuse to keep silent now too when our state is at the top of those violence. And the fact is that, many protests and legal steps were also made in the earlier regime by democratic forces and particularly Human Rights organisations. This is deplorable to try to politicise the issue and thus protect the perprtrators.

Mr. Subhashis is absolutely wright. But whatever be it, let us come out and support the government apolitically to end these heinious crimes. Literacy( not by giving mid-day meals only) has to be increased, fright of getting punished will not help, its evident. Better stop nany pornographic content marketed in any form, these should not get in the hands of low aged people, giving sex education classes, respect for each sex value education. Many governments for their vote banks have gone onto...

Many governments for their vote banks have gone onto create division among people with giving some added edges for a section, stop this, this creates enemies whose outcome can fall on females in many a way. Education is the weapon.

Guys, lets make this into an ultimatum to one and all who indulge in such hynous crimes against women, she may not be from India(W.Bengal) only; but all over the world. Leys take some time out and weed them out from our midst. We men folks are getting castrigated for such degenerate and purverted people. Lets hang them by their short hair and leave to dry out their wrapped and twisted thought processes.

being Bengali, i had thought that WB was the best place regarding female safety and Delhi was the worst. i had told all my foreign friends how safe it is here for women to travel and now we are seeing so much violence. where had it been all this time or is it a new aspect of moving into the 21st century? what ever the cause, i feel ashamed of belonging to a community that treat women in this horrific way.
