Today, there is a great debate going on in Hawaii about what form of government the new nation of Hawaii should take. For me, the answer is simple: Hawaii was a Constitution Monarchy when it was overthrown illegally by the United States in 1893 and had the US corrected it's "Mistake" before Lili'oukalani's death in 1917, Hawaii would probably still be a constitutional monarchy today. I know a lot of people in Hawaii might be afraid of the return of the monarchy, but take a look at Great Britain: they honor their Queen, their traditions and culture but still have a government by the people. Hawaii should do the same, Find a Mo'i (Chief) to be the head of the Government and lead the people. Where would this Mo'i come from? Today, there are living descendants of Kamehameha the Great in Hawaii. A genealogical Board could be convened to determine who the Mo'i should be. Then, the Mo'i and the people could apply for Federal Recognition just like the Native American Indians did. Or even lead a march on Washington.
It is sad that our fathers and and Grand Fathers witnessed the theft of our Hawaii. The United States stole our Island and tried to take away our heritage. I can not judge those who spear headed this injustice but God can and let Him Judge.
We the people of Hawai'i should stand as one and not let foreignors over come us just because of the beauty & history that our ancestors has built & left for their children to have & protect..do'nt let our AINA get into their hands. That's all we have left..The spirit of "ALOHA" will always be with'in ea. & everyone...that can never be taken away..we're the only civilized culture that welcomes outsiders w/open arms & step foot on our AINA..
this is something that we don't want to lose any more than we have already have. this will help benefit our childrens as well as our grandchildrens through generations. and my beloved ancestors are no longer here to speak up and help us out into saving our language and land. we who stand on hawaiian land now should speak up and be as one ohana and fight for our language as well as our land for the future of our next generations. mahalo' hope something could be done ASAP: ALOHA'.
Why is this cause important to me? Because Imperialism is wrong. Taking over someone else's country is immoral. -What small tiny bit of Abenaki I have tinkling in my gene structure ---I pray to gods and goddesses- forgives my white Northern European ass. We must cherish each other.
Where do we see Kanaka Maoli in 10 years? Will Hawai'i remain a state? What you do now, will be the lives that your keiki will have to live with...
This is THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT CAUSE OF MY LIFE. My ancestors passed away, ashamed that they could not protect their descendants from the harm that we have been going through for over 119 years. They cry for the iwi that is going on, the ceded lands, the pushing of our existence off of the planet over corporate greed. HELP US KEEP HAWAI'I HAWAI'IAN!
