Video is a little odd. Glad IDA is involved.
Yes. Sorry the video is a bit real. It is really what happens when we miss a nest and needs to be seen to understand how gruesome it gets on the streets. By the end of the season our brain and emotions are mush. We have others that show rescues. But if the City weakens the ordinance, things will get worse.
we need to watch and care for the earth,we have done so much damage to her now.
Turtles are living creatures too! Please take care to protect them. God put all of us here for a reason--even the turtles!
We share this Earth with beautiful creatures lets save them :)
We travel to Florida several times a year to see the sea turtles nest, and always educate others along the way. It is a wonderful experience, all of it. The East coast beaches of Florida could benefit by re-introducing dunes and dune vegetation at the back end of the beach. This would allow for lighting on the back side of the dunes which would reflect light away from the ocean (if the lighting is done correctly). It also would provide a potential barrier to hatchlings which have crawled the wrong way.
Too bad Ft. Lauderdale does not feel that way about dunes and dune vegetation. As a matter of fact, STOP's first court case last year was trying to save one of the LAST dune systems (Mayan Dune) on South Ft. Lauderdale beach. It was destroyed despite our hardest efforts.....
We need the turtles in the ocean, I hope the idea of lighting done correctly would be the answer to everyone.

What has been done with lighting so far is token .you can't let it be rolled back.
It's a mess. To
Its nature and we should help protect all and do no harm to them. As they deserve to live.
