BE A COMPASSIONATE AND RESPONSABLE PERSON FOR THE ANIMALS AND ENVIROMENT ??????
I like your style and post
I take used ones back to store for recycle -- keep forgetting to take my "green" bags to store -- need to try and get that set as a routine when I go shopping!!!
Me, too, Thomas.
Thomas, all you have to do is keep them in your car so that you'll never forget them! :-)
I have reuse able bags in my car. Plastic keeps ripping up on me.
@ Anna - I need to do a better job for sure -- I think they are in back somewhere but can't find them!!!
If the stores would offer 5 cents off for each bag (canvas) used off purchase, stores could cut back on this plastic bag demand and have a campaign to buy canvas bags from their store free with x amount of dollars spent and reusing their bags would be .10 cents off per bag to motivate people using canvas bags. Remember when recyling bottles for soda worked well. Now everything is plastic sadly. This is workable and healthy for the environment too.
Thanks Stephen Baker, I think I am up for the challenge my idea for this design would invoke and involve a lot of changes in homes and within the waste companies. I think its is a great idea and would do away with the bag issue altogether, Hefty may not be very pleased and all of the people that work there would be out of work; and that is just one bag company; I don't be responsible for that. It is like the oil issue its killing us and the environment but we depend on it and to switch now...

It is like the oil issue its killing us and the environment but we depend on it and to switch now would devastating to our economy. Maybe if implemented over time slowly, the idea could be integrated and it is just in theory no designs have been drawn up no laboratory test have been done. As for my idea it is staying in my head for now, but thank you for inspiring me maybe this is my million dollar baby. I am a struggling Drafter and Designer who is working for temp services and building my office skills. This may be and opportunity to sell a simple idea and to finally sell myself as a designer.
We take cloth bags to the stores with us. Even so, We still end up with a lot of plastic. We use it as waste can liners, As packaging when shipping, at our vegetable stand and recycle the rest.
I like Daire's comment. We should have a surcharge on plastic bags.
good plan Frank and good use also
Some places in New Zealand have a surcharge, but if people need carry bags they pay it anyway. The price of the plastic bag needs to be prohibitive if this is going to make any kind of difference to the amount of plastic bags entering the waste dumps.
T. Soroyan A helpful suggestion to all dog owners: instead of using plastic bags for your dogs' poop; use a sheet or two of paper towel. I wrap the poop in it and make it my business to collect small brown bags to put it in. I then toss it in the nearest trash bin. If you can't find a small brown bag, use newspaper. It works just as well and helps us get off our addiction to plastic bags.
There has now been a huge proliferation of reusable bags, some of which are not easily recyclable when they come to the end of their natural life, which is becoming an additional problem!! Brown paper bags like the old days would be better---they are reusable for a period of time, and also easily recyclable.
bring ur own vinyl or cotton shopping bag.
