I recently lost my mom to cancer very soon after her diagnosis. It has been devastating; however, I will not give cancer power over me or my family members. Cancer has met a formidable enemy in me and countless others all over the world!

It's not about me. It's about Prof. Barry rubin, Middle East expert, a frequent source for journalists trying to sort through the muddle of this or that development in the Arab world, writes on his blog about dealing with the news that he has inoperable lung cancer.

I was diagnosed with StageIV Breast Cancer in 10/02. No lumps, multiple mammograms showed nothing. Tumor had involuted and spread along my ribcage. I researched and found progressive Drs. that were willing to sign me up for every clinical trial, new med, ANTHING. In 08, my hip collapsed from a huge met and 4 orthopedists refused to replace it because I was...

I was diagnosed with StageIV Breast Cancer in 10/02. No lumps, multiple mammograms showed nothing. Tumor had involuted and spread along my ribcage. Was told I year max due to the massive amount of mets found. I refused to accept this. I had an 11 & 12yo that needed their mommy. I researched and found progressive Drs. that were willing to sign me up for every clinical trial, new med, ANTHING. In 08, my hip collapsed from a huge met and 4 orthopedists refused to replace it because I was "terminal". Couldn't walk for almost 4years and had to live in a nursing home until I could learn to walk with a walker. Through the grace of God, I finally found an Ortho/Onco who told me that he would do it!! AND NOW?? I'm ready to roll in my wheelchair 39.3miles in September at the AVONWALK to celebrate my 10th year with STAGEIV with METS! I am living proof that through due diligence and sheer stubborness, I am alive and still fighting. Was able to watch my children finish HS and College!!! DONT QUIT!
