I visited Congo for the first time last summer. One of the first people I met in the village of Kiwanja, an elderly man, looked into my eyes and said, "Thank you so much for coming here. It let's us know that the world has not forgotten about us." Wow. That statement made the trip worthwhile in itself. And unfortunately, it seems that his perception has been true - the world has, to a great extent, ignored the atrocities that are happening in this country. So grateful that there is someone with leverage who is bringing awareness to the people of this country through ECI. The Congolese people are smart and wise in their own right. What they are able to accomplish in the most difficult of circumstances is nothing less than awe-inspiring. Imagine what they can do if they have the resources and support they need?

Don't have much to donate...but figure if everyone would give as little as a dollar how much that would add up to and help. My heart has gone out to these people and what's happened to them and their lives...Sometimes I think if this would happen here in USA and how unprepared any of us would be to survive such conditions. I cannot imagine anyone living the way these folks are forced to live...and pray things get better.

I do agree that how long we as a country have allowed this to go on boarders on criminal, and should be revisited after the region is stabilized.

I think, if we (USA) waited for stabilization, any and ALL affected countries would no longer be those countries, they would be named something else. There are numerous examples of renamed countries already.

yes I realize that, and im talking about revisiting our country's willingness to remain uninvolved. I said we should wait to take up that issue after stablization.

También sería interesante que tomaran anticonceptivos, para prevenir, como se hace en los países mas desarrollados.
