I think it is nice to see someone in Hollywood who wants to make a footprint, these people are survivors, I commend them and the work Ben Afleck is doing with this organization.

most of you know I have worked in Goma, Eastern Congo with dear friends Esther and Camile Ntoto. What Ben A is doing is a very good thing- spotlighting the horriffic situations the local people are in due to war; helping to create economic opportunity, and teach the children. this is what my friends do too at AFrica New Day.org.. help where you feel led by God but please do something. thank you

This cause is important to me because these people deserve a chance at life. A good life. God created us all as equals & to help those who cannot help themselves. God sent His only son to die for us, now we need to repay that debt by helping these poeple & all of those just like them. Pay it Forward is what we truly need to do to show that there is some goodness in this world yet!

Don't have much to donate...but figure if everyone would give as little as a dollar how much that would add up to and help. My heart has gone out to these people and what's happened to them and their lives...Sometimes I think if this would happen here in USA and how unprepared any of us would be to survive such conditions. I cannot imagine anyone living the way these folks are forced to live...and pray things get better.

I'm not quite sure how this initiative may effect my biggest interest in the problems in the Congo which is healthcare and somehow providing safety measures against what the rebel armies are doing to the women and young girls there. They are randomly raping them, even in front of their family, and also going as far as using whatever they can find to violate them internally causing rupture to their uterus, bladder, and even their bowel so that they cannot hold their urine or feces. They are randomly raping them, even in front of their family, and also going as far as using whatever they can find to violate them internally causing rupture to their uterus, bladder, and even their bowel so that they cannot hold their urine or feces. These women end up walking sometimes hundreds of miles for days seeking what little medical help there is. Some cannot manage and end up with serious infections and die from sepsis. The violence that is still going on is my concern.

Kelly, you are so right to be outraged and concerned about the daily violence that gets carried out and disproportionately affects women and children in eastern Congo. While ECI may not be able to change the cycles of injustice, poverty, violence, and instability overnight, we are working with Congolese community based organizations (CBOs) who are fighting those cycles. We would invite you to check some of our incredible CBOs and the myriad of ways they are working with women to heal and...

There is definitely more to do in ensuring safe, affordable, and easily accessed healthcare for women and all victims of violence, but we remain optimistic that it is through these partnerships with Congolese organizations that we can create meaningful and lasting change in Congo.
