We are all crazy in our own way: can we make do with a handful of labels? We'd need a label for everybody, and that's why we have names. Thanks, Julie, good to hear from you!

I was declared mad after brain damage so felt free to go my own way but seriously labels should only be a starting point not the end stop. And to be honest If you do nt turn a little bonkers in this crazy society I would really worry :-)

Every-one is more than any label they are given. labels can confine a person and a llabel can inhibit personal growth!

When we label, we exclude. When we label and exclude, we deny the humanity and dignity of each and every person.

Psychiatric Labels are only good for handles for the medical industry to hang their income calculations on. Stop the labeling and let us use the saved medicine money for natural, human, common sense approaches instead.

Understanding is required through mental ill health, focus on that as opposed to categorising our behaviour. I'm all for labelless living!!

The systems are irrelevant, at times denigratory, totally medical profession centered and have become ridiiculously tortuous. Money for the writers eh? Like policies.

Oh, and at TAXPAYERS EXPENSE? But these days, astonishingly, adversely impacting lives doesn't seem to apply to the current business model. They have destroyed a beautiful, and innocent person's life, to serve themselves. I know that sounds unbelievable, but the Truth does not lie. But they do!

Shannon it makes me sad to hear of and see what has happened over the years (also to my younger brother) because they did not take better options serious. Too simple to be true was often the reaction. In the Netherlands it was rest regulation and medication. I believe in comfort safety and continuation. Hope I have translated rightly:-) Luckily the families are allowed to be more involved but why did saving government money have to be the strongest motivation?

Estoy de acuerdo. Es momento de introducir cambios de fondo en las prácticas psiquiátricas, indisciplinarlas, atenuar el estigma y retomar la conversación como herramienta básica en psicoterapia para abordar el sufrimiento y su contexto. Psiquiatra. Bogotá - Colombia.
