This cause is so important to me. I was a victim of domestic abuse in my past relationship. The emotional abuse was worse than getting physically abused. I remember being in the ER needing stitches because my ex threw a lighter at my face that split my lip through to the guns requiring 8 stitches, and I said it happened falling and hitting my face on the stair railing. One day I looked at shell of a woman I was going through the motions and couldn't take it anymore. I fought hard to leave...

One day I looked at shell of a woman I was going through the motions and couldn't take it anymore. I fought hard to leave and regain my life and me. Unfortunately, I was raped shortly after leaving my ex by a stranger in a place I thought I was safe. It has taken the love of my family and friends, counseling, and 7 years (since I left) to finally see the woman I was when I met my ex. Violence against women is unacceptable. I know more women who have been victimized in some way than women who haven't. Whatever I can do to help more women get out safely and for this epidemic to stop is my duty!

I hope you are doing well now. Victims of domestic abuse need to rebuild their bodies as well as their souls-- I hope you are doing all you can to stay healthy.

It hurts me to know that our state representatives and government have not protected the abuse men or women. Action are always taking AFTER a life have been taken. Why should it have to come to that point when you have the authority to save lives NOW?

We've "progressed" in terms of scientific discovery and technology, health care for all and maybe even bringing education to more people in every society. For a larger number than a decade ago, disposable incomes have risen, consumerism has propelled people towards social mobility. The achievements of mankind in our times is impressive indeed. But this one thing still can't seem to change: the way we (men and women) look at women. Every man born to this world came from a woman! Then why,...

But this one thing still can't seem to change: the way we (men and women) look at women. Every man born to this world came from a woman! Then why, oh why, do men feel it's OK to speak derogatorily about women, perpetuate double standards for women in the work place and in the home, and constantly beat women back with male-prescribed molds for what women should be, what their priorities ought to be and how they should come thus far and no further? Violence against women is not merely leaving colourful bruises like a canvas on a woman's body. Abuse is perpetuated verbally in the home and in society and through generations. Stop it!

This is extremely important to me. I was not only a victim of child abuse, but was in a very abusive relationship. I nearly died. I ent up in a coma in ICU and the doctors weren't sure if I'd ever wake up. I had to have two blood transfusions and many reconstructive surgeries. I am now disabled because of what my ex did to me. It took me over 2yrs to get away from him. He continued to stalk me for nearly 5yrs. I was told if I got a restraining order he would know my address. I felt so scared...

It took me over 2yrs to get away from him. He continued to stalk me for nearly 5yrs. I was told if I got a restraining order he would know my address. I felt so scared & helpless. I had to quit my college courses and move. For yrs I became like a hermit. It's been almost 12yrs and I still get panic attacks, have horrible nightmares, and fear being alone. I'm still afraid I'll live in fear the rest of my life. No woman should experience abuse. It changes a person, and not in a good way. I would do anything tohelp

Because if you went through something like this in your life then you know that people should also make a stand and do something about it.
