provide media and community arts programs and opportunities to Downtown Eastside and Vancouver residents
The W2 Community Media Arts Centre will open in September 2009 bringing together creative technology and interdisciplinary arts practices in 16,000 sq ft of the Woodwards heritage building. W2 supports community cultural and economic development and will be home to 10 core and 10 associate member organizations. The public galleries, production labs, and performance venues will provide for the development and presentation of digital media, movement, and inter-arts productions by artists from the neighbourhood and around the world.
