A World without Sickle Cell Disease
To support Sickle Cell Awareness, education, state-of-the-art treatment, research and to bring hope to families affected by this devastating disease.
My goal is to help young people in the UK and Africa learn more about Sickle Cell, how it affects them, and to make informed reproductive choices. The world figures show that Nigeria is the largest carrier of the disease. The majority of children in Nigeria with Sickle Cell die before the age of 5 years old. The reasons for this are lack of awareness, health care and lack of management of the the disease. People in the western part of the World with Sickle Cell are living longer and healthier lives because, they have adequate knowledge and medical support that can manage their condition.
