On November 20th, 2012 a two year old lab named Bentley inadvertently was loose and ended up on Lee Straw's farm in Newcastle, ME. Straw shot the dog in the hind quarter which inhumanely killed the dog. A Facebook group was set up in protest against what was seen as a very unnecessary act: https://www.facebook.com/groups/220950291371776/
Reading the posts in this group, it's clear that views on how the situation should have been handled are highly divided.
Bentley is dead. The owner and his two children are mourning their loss. The question now is, how do we prevent further "Bentleys" from happening?
