Update on January 11, 2013

The Albuquerque Journal reported that the first release of a captive-born Mexican Gray Wolf in four years could occur soon if wildlife officials determine there is an available mate for the lobo in the targeted pack. This release should occur in mid-January, 2013. However, the article goes on to say that the plans are to release into the wild captive-born wolves which will equal the number of those illegally killed. They are waiting for a revised wolf recovery plan, which is actually good news. It means the recovery plan is being rewritten because it is outdated and does not address the current situation at all. I will continue to keep you apprised of developments. Wishing all of you a Happy New Year. Carole Altendorf, Cause Leader.
