To write the 12,000 verses of Prajnaparamita in gold
Lama Zopa Rinpoche has said that one of the main causes to create merit in order for the Maitreya Statue to be built is for the Prajnaparamita to be written in pure gold.
Lama Zopa Rinpoche himself started to write the Prajnaparamita (8000 verses) more than seven years ago, sometimes writing all night. Rinpoche has also initiated a number of students with excellent hand writing to start another copy of the Prajnaparamita (8000 verses) to be written on rainbow paper. Principal among them is Ven.Tsering who has writing 5 days a week for 5 years. Tsering has just completed the first volume (out of 12 volumes) and will be beginning the second volume soon. Due to the incredible importance of this work the Maitreya Project is also organizing a whole team of monks to also write the 100,000 verses of the Prajnaparamita at Sera Jhe Monastery in South India
