Archaeological artifacts recovered from illegal dumps near Rome

Roman amphorae, statues, and prehistoric vases were among the archaeological treasures discovered under the amounting refrigerators, engine parts, oil drums, old cars, and other garbage in three illegal dumping sites within the province of Rome. The landowners have been reported to the Public Prosecutor of Tivoli and investigations are ongoing as to uncover illegal activity including associations with "ditte fantasma"- companies whose business deals with traffic and waste from clandestine excavations - within the numerous archaeological sites in the province of Rome.
