WWII soldier's family returns antiquities to Italy


Taken as 'souvenirs' from an Italian Church during WWII, historical luminaries dating from 1533-1789 have since resided with Irving Tross, now 96, who was a radio operator with the U.S. Army's 88th Infantry Division in 1944. The antiquities will be returned through the Monuments Men Foundation, whose goal is "raising public awareness of the importance of protecting and safeguarding civilization’s most important artistic and cultural treasures from armed conflict, while incorporating these expressions of man's greatest creative achievements into our daily lives".
