Update on June 28, 2012

Thanks to all of you who’ve signed the petition we are over halfway towards meeting our goal of 5,000 signatures! Collectively, we are speaking up on behalf of America’s biggest workforce – the over 20 million people employed in producing, processing and delivering our food – who often struggle to feed their own families.

Fortunately, there is now also a Congressional push to raise these poverty-level wages for tipped workers. Iowa Senator Tom Harkin recently proposed the Rebuild America Act to raise the tipped minimum wage to $6.85 over the next five years.

While legislators consider the new act, it’s important to remember that these battles won’t be won at a federal level without a grassroots movement advocating for an America where all workers receive fair compensation. Continue to help by inviting your friends
