The rainy weather could not deter the dedicated supporters of the first annual Stork Fund Walkabout. One hundred and forty-nine participants dodged puddles and rain drops to attend the exciting event at the historic Franklin Park Zoo this past Saturday on June 11, 2011.
In support of the Stork Fund, the Walkabout was held as an educational event for both adults and children. Booths were set up in a few locations, where interested walkers could learn about car seat safety, nutrition, dental hygiene, exercise, and sun protection. Each child held a “passport” that guided them through the walk. Children could have their passports stamped at different locations throughout the zoo.
