Back to Save The Murray

Last days to Save the Murray, Please help spread the word!

Thank you for taking action to help protect the future of our lifeblood, the Murray River. The communities along the banks of the Murray-Darling Basin depend on it for their livelihoods. It’s home to unique ecosystems and wildlife found nowhere else in the world, and it supports 40 percent of Australia’s food production. Your action has never been so important. Thank you so much!

So far a pretty 2,400 of you have told the MDBA you want a Basin Plan that delivers a minimum of 4000 billion litres to the rivers of the Basin. The more people that speak up, just like you did, the more they’ll hear the voice of people who love the Murray. We have only 4 days to show our support and then it's back in the hands of the MDBA!

Please help spread the word with these quick steps:

1. Forward the email below to your friends and family
2. Share it on Facebook > http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=http://www.environmentvictoria.org.au/save-the-murray

Dear friends,

Right now there’s a national process in motion that’s making long-lasting decisions about the future of our greatest river system, theMurray-Darling Basin. The Plan is meant to put back a significant portion of water that’s been taken from rivers in the basin but so far the draft Plan doesn't do enough. I just took action to help ensure our most important river system will survive the next big dry, _and I think you should too! We have 4 days to get as many people as possible to sign the petition and make sure the plan gives us the healthy river which we all depend on. The communities along the banks of the Murray-Darling Basin depend on it for their livelihoods. It’s home to unique ecosystems and wildlife found nowhere else in the world, and it supports 40 percent of Australia’s food production. Your support has never been more important.

Recent rains have provided the Murray with some welcome relief, but nothing and no one can survive on one decent drink every twenty years. We know the next big drought is just around the corner so please take a moment now to speak up for our greatest river and ensure a healthy Murray now and in the future.

TAKE ACTION: Stand up for our greatest river system. Sign the petition to the MDBA > http://www.environmentvictoria.org.au/save-the-murray/take-action
