This year, let's save the Murray forever!

There’s no doubt about it, the Murray River is the lifeblood of our country. People, wildlife and our economy have depended on it for generations.

But the mighty Murray - and the rivers that flow into it - are on the brink of collapse. For too long, too much water has been taken out of them.

Recent rains and floods have provided the Murray with some ‘breathing space’. River Red Gums are drinking deeply, wetlands are glistening and cacophonies of waterbirds are raising clutches of chicks.

But nothing and no one can survive on one decent drink every twenty years.

In 2011 critical decisions will be made about the future of our greatest river system. This year, let’s save the Murray, forever.

1. The Murray River is the lifeblood of our country.

2. Nothing can survive on a decent drink once every 20 years.
