In 2009, 370,000 children were newly infected with HIV. According to UNICEF's recent report, "Children and AIDS", 53% of women now receive medicines to help prevent transmission of HIV to their babies; however only one-third of infants born to HIV-infected mothers receive antiretrovirals to prevent HIV transmission. In the month of December, 31,000 children will be infected with HIV. The sad truth is that every one of these infections is preventable. With you continued support and the support of our partners around the world we can change the face of the AIDS pandemic.
December 1st is World AIDS Day. And during the month of December you can make your voice heard. Help make the elimination of pediatric AIDS a priority for our global leaders.
