All this talk about debt, the budget crisis and the disparity between the “haves” and “have nots” in our society has distracted us from appreciating and protecting the common treasure we all enjoy .. America’s kids.
Children are born to rich and poor alike, but no matter how careful we are all of them are susceptible to abuse. They all deserve to be protected, to have an opportunity to grow, learn and experience in an atmosphere of security and comfort from harm.
Very few adults have escaped years of severe sexual child abuse at the hands of multiple pedophiles, repeated trafficking attempts, being the model for thousands of frames of child pornography and kidnapping.
But I have.
More importantly, I’ve been in recovery from its devastating effects for over 25 years.
I’ve decided to devote my remaining time, money and available energy to a vitally important cause.
I wish to be a voice for those of us who are Adult Survivors of Child Abuse, especially to those who need to be helped into real recovery, where we can have healthy, meaningful lives and relationships.
I also want to actively advocate for a better understanding of the many issues that surround the problem of child abuse in America.
I’ve recently launched a grassroots non profit effort, the National Association of Adult Survivors of Child Abuse. The primary mission at NAASCA is to help abused people get into recovery. Then, too, we’ll seek to educate the public about the sheer magnitude of the problem, and provide tools and information to help parents and concerned community members become a part of the solution.
We've numerous approaches to this ..
In January we launched a web site (http://www.NAASCA.org) and now we've an Internet-based talk radio show, "Stop Child Abuse Now," which airs weeknights at 8pm ET, and features call-in participation as well as later, on-demand listening (http://www.BlogTalkRadio.com/Bill-Murray).
Volunteers have been coming forward .. members of the professional community, fellow survivors of sexual child abuse, concerned parents and community members.
You can join us .. and together we can make a difference
Together we’ll do all we can to protect America’s true treasure .. its children.
Yours in service,
