This summer Sunrise Day Camp opened the second summer day camp in the world for children with cancer and their siblings, Sunrise - Israel. In the three weeks that camp was open we heard enough stories to know that Sunrise-Israel will rival Sunrise in NY for its ability to mold lives. Hospital social workers have called to tell us how happy the children and families are, and staff have spoken to us about how Sunrise is now embedded in their souls. The camp has been covered on Israeli TV, radio and in the print media. In it’s first week, Ruby Rivlin, Speaker of the Knesset, stopped in for a short visit and ended up staying an hour. "We built this State," he said, "but it means nothing i f we don't take responsibility for those who need more. This", he said, “is what you have brought us."
We invite you to support Sunrise-Israel, just as you have supported our efforts in NY. We have the rare opportunity to form a team that will run in the NYC Half Marathon in support of Sunrise-Israel. The race will be held on March 20, 2011 and we are currently forming a committee to organize these efforts. If you are interested in becoming part of this initiative, please message me on Facebook or email me at [email protected]
