The North Carolina Industrial Commission is responsible for oversight of the Workers' Compensation Program.
New rules will be going into effect on Jan. 1, 2011.
Commissioner Christopher Scott dissented in part over the "New Rule Changes" when the full commission failed to include a prohibition of "side agreements."
It's becoming a standard practice for the Employer and/or Workers' Compensation Company to include language in the "Compromise Settlement" that requires the injured working to forfeit their rights.
It would have kept the "Compromise Settlement" agreements from including conditions like... "giving up their job!
