Remains of an ancient city discovered underwater

Off the coast of Zakynthos, the Ionian Sea Island the Ephorate of Underwater Antiquities team revealed architectural remains of what appears to be an ancient city now submerged underwater. The site covers 30,000 sq. m. and remains of a courtyard and, possibly, a public building have been identified, although the date of the site is still unclear. The Municipality of Zakynthos and the Ephorate of Underwater Antiquities will continue researching and mapping the site to reveal significant historical information of Zakynthos.
