Abiding By Sandy Burress

Abiding

I am just sitting here thinking about my own faithfulness to you. I wonder if I should be pursuing you more, Lord. I think about the country we live in and how blessed we are....or are we? There are so many distractions here. We can wander from the refrigerator to the TV and back. We are busy doing so much that will amount to nothing in eternity. We are prisoners of our stuff.

I wonder, wonder, wonder what I should do.

Abide in you...that means to have a vital connection to You. That means doing what I am doing right now...having a conversation with, in print, because my mind tends to wander here and there. This the connection, this the life..that I share what I am thinking with you and I share the struggles of my heart. You already know what I am thinking.(Hebrews 4:13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.)You wait to see if Iwill wander around in the futility of my thinking, or if I will bring it to you in fellowship. You are my Great High Priest (Hebrews 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin...) You lovingly invite me to come to your throne where you offer me mercy and grace....(Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.)

This is the message that you put forth again and again in Your Word......ABIDE.....walk by faith>>TRUST

John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

That's it then! It's about that vital communtion. It's not just talking to you...but it is listening as you speak through Your Word and Spirit to spirit. Without you.. we can do nothing. We cannot approach you through a man, a denomination. We cannot keep the rules of man and expect you to be pleased. You are pleased by faith......which correctly translated means trust. Trusting someone means that you consider that they are good for their word. It means that you know what they said and that they will do it!

Thank you for reminding me to go back to that place of quiet trust..that place
of communion between you and me. Psalms 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. AMEN
