Using the PvGIJOE concept of connecting pros & troops through video games RWTT focuses solely on wounded warriors & fun, yet intense workouts eith top pro athletes acting as their ‘trainers'!
IT’S A DIFFERENT KIND OF REHAB
Rehabbing with the Troops (RWTT) is the newest program of Pro vs. GI Joe, the non-profit organization that connects American troops all over the world with their favorites professional athletes and celebrities through live video game competitions and webcams.
In partnership with the Wounded Warrior Project and the USO, and sponsored by Armed Forces Insurance, Pro vs. GI Joe created Rehabbing with the Troops using their concept of connecting pros and troops through video games but instead is focusing solely on wounded warriors and fun, yet intense workouts using the Wii console and EA Active titles with professional athletes acting as their training partners. Season 1’s pro training partners were the Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints and lasted from June 2010 to August 2010 with a big finale in New Orleans followed by a special recognition of the warriors during the Saints' Season Opener at the Super Dome.
Season 3 officially kicked off with it's first pro event on January 14th with all of our warriors from Ft. Carson working out with the Denver Nuggets on Center Court as well as troops in FOB Fenty Afghanistan and the EA Sports Active development team using EA Sports Active 2. Season 3 will end with a big finale at NBA All-Star week in Feb.
RWTT’s goal is simple: to create a virtual community, called the Wounded Warrior Arena, in which our warriors can find common ground and a mutual understanding while simultaneously working on both their physical rehabilitation and emotional well-being. The Wounded Warrior Arena is the place our troops maintain all the information related to their Rehabbing with the Troops season including pictures, videos, blogs, workouts, statistics and standings. Each warrior controls his or her own page and is encouraged to make it their own.
Rehabbing with the Troops consists of ‘seasons’, with each ‘season’ lasting several weeks. Each week the wounded warriors will be given intense, customized workouts created by the pros themselves The warriors are provided with all the equipment they need to succeed, a HD handheld camera for videos and pictures, RWTT workout gear provided by Crons and much more.
We also encourage the troops’ family, friends, and fans to get involved. The more folks that follow them, join them or root for them, the better chance they have to succeed and the bigger their community of support becomes!
1. Support our wounded warriors
2. Putting a little FUN into our wounded warriors rehabilitation
3. giving our wounded warriors a 'virtual community' to connect with other wounded troops in a fun way!
