Back to Stop Native Forest Fueled Electricity in Australia

JOIN US ON OCTOBER 28 TO OPPOSE ‘DEAD KOALA POWER’ IN NEW SOUTH WALES.

ACTION ALERT: MONDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2013

Thanks to everyone who wrote, signed petitions, phoned or joined in our day of action back in August. You helped let the O’Farrell government know that we will not stand by while our native forests are trashed and burnt to produce electricity.

It’s incredible, but the New South Wales government is still intent on bowing to logging industry pressure and passing this amendment, which will give the green light for using native as fuel for electricity plants. The government isn’t even pretending that this is all about using 'logging waste' from the forest floor. Any whole tree not suitable for sawlogging will be able to be used. This will mean even more destruction of Australian forests and their wildlife, and release massive amounts of carbon into the atmosphere.

We’ve already made some important progress. The date for the proposed amendment to be tabled in parliament has been delayed. The government is now well aware of community opposition, and 2000 people have signed our petitions.

Many politicians are already against ‘Dead Koala Power’. Now we need to pressure the government to abandon this destructive plan altogether.

Can you join us outside the electoral offices of the Premier and the Treasurer of New South Wales and let them know that our precious forests must be protected for wildlife, climate, water and the air we breathe, not trashed for electricity.
