Baby Mongoose begs for food...

YELLOW MONGOOSE VOCALISATIONS: (*Please turn on video volume for calls): https://youtu.be/JGyrFUF0qNM

This baby Yellow Mongoose from The Tsebokolodi family calls loudly for food-deliveries...(the equivalent of fast food expectations, but in this case: juicy caterpillars, beetle grubs, scorpions, and a wide assortment of invertebrate and small vertebrate species including side-dishes of rodents!)

The Yellow Mongoose (Cynictis penicillata) is a stealthy and mostly silent species when hunting, compared to the vociferous Meerkat (Suricata suricatta).

Getting close enough to hear the Mongoose vocalisations here has taken me over eight years of patient field research so far. Here are some of the calls...

The very rare and comparitively loud sound from this baby Yellow Mongoose is a very distinctive food provisioning call - a demand to be fed sound!
