Chemical warfare - when Meerkat and Mongoose food fights back...

THE NEW MILLIPEDE MEERKAT AND MONGOOSE FOOD ITEM VIDEO IS EDITED: Miraculous Millipedes (Diplopoda) are arthropods - segmented invertebrates that occur in The Meerkat Magic Valley Reserve of The Meerkat Magic Conservation Project. They have many legs that are jointed and paired occuring on the majority of the underside of their body segments.

These reserve inhabitants are detritivores - heterotrophs which obtain their food from ingesting detritus. They are not predators like the lesser legged dorso-ventrally flattened and softer bodied, frequently venomous centipedes.

They are however far from defenceless. They have a very strong ring-mail like outer armor. When the Millipede is disturbed or threatened it may curl into a tight ball protecting the vulnerable legs and underside of the body and secrete a nasty chemical surprise that repulses many would be attackers.
