LEAP is an educational empowerment program for Palestinian refugee-youth in Lebanon. LEAP aims to encourage students to become their own agents of change by nurturing their intellectual and creative curiosity.
One of the many boundaries Palestinian refugee-youth face is English comprehension, which prevents students from being promoted to high school. All students must pass the national Brevet exam, which is administered in English, for promotion to high school. To help students in this process, LEAP recruits American volunteers to teach English in the camps of Lebanon during its rigorous summer program.
Simultaneously, there is a mutual sharing and learning experience among volunteers and students.
